TIME

00:00

Looking into the camera, big grin on her face. Enthusiastic.

Hello everyone.

00:02

Rises hands to wave happily. Short pause. Intense gaze, seductive but staged.

It's me.

00:03

Welcome back to my channel.

00:08

Big grin returns. Hand clasp.

Today is the day!

00:09

Excited. Hands unclasp.

Such a beautiful day.

00:11

Intense gaze again, staged sensual look.

Welcome.

00:15

Follow me.

00:20

Winks then returns to a normal conversation. Curious. Clasp hands in anticipation, looks down left.

What is new?

00:23

What is not?

00:25

Looks into the camera.

How do I feel today?

00:28

Unclasps hands. Keeps them up as in questioning.

How should I feel?

00:32

Pause. Brings left hand to chest. Little anxious.

Am I being followed?

00:39

Anxiety increases slightly in her gaze. Short pause then she returns suddenly to a calm self. Left hand goes under chin, as if she is posing to the camera, with her head titled slightly to the right.

Keep on watching.

00:43

Left hand slides upwards, caressing her left cheek. Calm voice.

Look at my skin.

00:46

Enjoy the show.

00:55

Left hand raised as waiting to grab something. Right hand joins the anticipation. Short pause to gather herself. She scrutinizes the table in front of her for a plastic envelope. She grabs it victoriously with the left hand and shows it to the camera. Eager.

Time to put on the mask.

01:10

She rips the envelope open and takes out a folded wet sheet. She unfolds it carefully with the tips of her fingers. The unfolded sheet has holes for the eyes, the mouth and a smaller slit for the nose. She gently puts the sheet on her face, trying to match the holes and slits perfectly with her face. Looks into the mirror. ]

Ah! My skin is getting ready.

01:20

Closes her eyes and taps with her fingers on her cheeks. While looking into the mirror, she tries to remove some creases of the sheet mask with her fingers but struggles with some smaller ones. Scrutinizes the table again. Shows it to the camera.

Jade roller.

01:30

Short pause then she begins to roll the device on her face, always rolling upwards and away from the face. She looks in the mirror as she smooths away the mask. Thoughtful.

You see all these people doing this. Rolling and rolling away...

01:36

Sometimes I wonder why I am doing this.

02:02

She continues rolling the device on her skin until she is satisfied with the result. She looks carefully in the mirror then removes the mask with both her hands. Crumples it and puts it away in the envelope. Looks again in the mirror and carefully analyzes her skin. She massages away the excess liquid that the sheet mask left behind. Poses for the camera for a moment, switching positions from left to right to show off her hydrated skin. Caresses her face with her hands then taps her fingers on the cheeks while looking up to the side. Keeps doing this for four seconds. Returns to a neutral pose. Confident.

Today is the day.

02:05

Let’s take you to the application.

02:09

Scrutinizes table with her hands clasped together.

Sit back and relax.

02:15

Looks into the camera. Big grin. Exclaims.

Let’s get glammed!

02:20

Starts organizing the makeup on her table.

This is going on so well.

02:24

Short pause.

I feel observed.

02:28

Freezes for a moment as she looks left to right. Puts right hand on her chest while her gaze is looking down. Sigh.

Worries...

02:30

Tries to calm herself.

No worries. No worries.

02:31

There is nothing a good cleansing cannot handle.

02:35

Sighs.

No worries.

02:38

Wash them off.

02:41

Calmer and a bit resigned.

Like all bad things in life.

02:44

They get you all wrinkled and scraped up.

02:48

Slightly annoyed.

And we do not want that happening to our pretty face.

02:51

Talks to the camera.

My go-to is the Korean beauty wash routine.

02:57

Dreamy.

Ah! Complexion perfection.

03:12

Gathers small bottles from the table and aligns them in front of her. She gets a bottle of water from under the table and empties half in a large bowl. Puts it in front of her. Gets serious.

Always oil cleanser first, then foam.

03:50

Starts her cleansing routine squirting a small dollop of product out of a bottle into her right hand. She rubs her hands together. then massages the oily liquid on her face for a few moments. Puts her face above the water bowl and washes off. Gets a small white towel that was hiding on her lap and taps dry her face. She quickly checks herself in the mirror then squirts another bottle on her hand. Same process again.

Don’t skip any steps if you want to achieve that natural glow we all strive for.

03:55

Serious.

Skincare is very important.

03:59

Short pause.

Here comes toning.

04:03

Eager.

Caffeine infused with green tea infused with citrus peels infused with snail slime.

04:06

All the good stuff.

04:12

Squirts another bottle this time on a cotton pad. Wipes off her face with the pad and controls her face once more in the mirror.

Acids!

04:20

Gets another bottle with an eye dropper lid. Gets some product with the eye dropper and drips it on her face. Massages it on her face while talking to the camera.

Lactic.

04:22

Hyaluronic.

04:25

Purified Alpha Arbutin.

04:29

Retinol.

04:31

Preaching.

Water formulations should be applied before oil formulations.

04:35

Apply daily in the AM and PM.

04:37

Avoid contact with the eyes.

04:39

Moisturize and hydrate.

04:44

Short pause. Cheerful to the camera.

Routine is my new favorite word.

04:48

What is yours?

04:52

Short pause to think. Rises left index finger.

Integrity.

04:55

Satisfied. Left index finger points down. Eyes look down. Smiling.

Let me know in the comments down below.

04:59

Tell me what you think.

05:02

Comment down below.

05:06

Short pause. Cheerful.

Welcome back.

05:09

Hands under the chin to pose.

The artist is present.

05:14

Looks into the camera then suddenly looks away, startled. Starts looking for a the sunscreen bottle on the table.

Avoid contact.

05:20

Finds the bottle then squirts some product on her hands. Taps the sunscreen on her face. Calmer.

There.

05:21

Preaching at the camera.

Shine bright like a diamond, but always, always avoid unprotected sun exposure!

05:26

Looks at herself in the mirror, checks herself out.

Don’t get out in the sun without protection, I tell you.

05:26

Don’t get out in the sun without protection, I tell you.

05:29

SPV 5000.

05:32

Over 9000.

05:35

Hydration.

05:37

Or depigmentation.

05:39

Looks at the camera again.

You're welcome.

05:42

Cheerful and welcoming.

Welcome.

05:46

Short pause.

How should I feel?

05:49

Ah! I feel blessed.

05:52

So blessed!

05:56

Clasps hands together, eyes closed. Then starts searching for the primer on the table. Eager.

My favorite part of the day is when I remove my face.

06:05

Squirts a dollop of primer on her hands, rubs it slightly, then starts tapping it on her face.

This trick does the trick, trust me.

06:08

Serious.

Not to prime is a crime.

06:11

Always smooth solid canvas before you go in with the paint.

06:15

This one flattens our all your natural imperfections.

06:19

Shows the bottle to the camera, putting one hand behind the bottle to focus.

Shade is number 120.

06:23

Puts the bottle on the table.

The stickier it is, the more foundation sticks to it.

06:28

Looks into the camera. Decided.

Longevity.

06:30

Satisfied.

That's the word.

06:33

Taps her face with both hands, cheerful.

Good vibes only.

06:37

Returns to the mirror. Pats her face here and there.

Glowing.

06:39

Anti-ageing.

06:41

Complexion perfection.

06:44

Looks for the foundation bottle on the table.

Foundation.

06:47

Shows the bottle to the camera, putting one hand behind the bottle to focus.

1.80 ounces of velvety magic in the shade “Love love love”.

06:55

Squirts a dollop of foundation on the back of her left hand. With the right hand he gets a tear-shaped fuchsia sponge from the table and dabs into the foundation on her hand. Starts tapping the sponge on her face while looking in the mirror.

A veil of perfect skin.

06:58

Plastic fantastic.

07:00

Flawless.

07:02

Integrity.

07:04

Puts the sponge away and controls her face in the mirror. Satisfied.

Yes.

07:05

Long lasting.

07:08

Searches for the concealer on the desk.

Conceal.

07:10

Hide.

07:12

Keep out of sight.

07:15

Brings the concealer to the camera.

Porcelain, shade number 11.

07:19

Disguise.

07:28

Opens the bottle cap that reveals a long brush, similar to nail polishes. Applies the brush under her eyes. Takes the sponge again and dabs it on her face, smoothing carefully the concealer in the mirror.

Camouflage.

07:30

Obscured.

07:35

Returns to the camera and poses a few seconds.

Keep on watching.

07:39

Searches the contour stick and a brush. Takes the stick in her right hand and the brush in her left hand. Looks into the camera. Eager.

Contouring.

07:45

Starts drawing the contours of her face with the stick. She puts the stick down and gets the brush from left to right hand. She starts blending the lines with the brush.

Blend in with the shade 345873.

07:49

Deepen up that cheekbone.

07:51

Follow your natural curves.

07:56

Satisfied. She shows off her sculpted face to the camera, switching angles. Puts down the brush and takes a thick cotton pad from the table. She starts looking for the setting powder.

Some powder.

07:59

To set the face in place.

08:01

Then bake.

08:05

Starts setting the face by patting the powder in with a pad. Slightly aggressive.

Blend this powder into all the nooks and crannies.

08:10

Short pause. Satisfied.

Not creasy. Not weird.

08:13

Looks into the camera.

I want my face everywhere.

08:17

Short pause. Slightly anxious. Clasps hands.

I feel them. Eyes on me.

08:20

Eyes getting ready.

08:24

Blinks eyes a few times. Eagerly scrutinizes the table for the eyeshadow palette while talking to the camera.

What is your favorite eye color?

08:27

Hands unclasp. Point down. Eyes follow.

Let me know in the comments down below.

08:31

Get the eyeshadow palette and shows it to the camera. Opens the pallet to show all the colors inside. Admiring.

Look at this.

08:36

All the shades your heart can fancy.

08:40

Colors and pigments that would make old Vincent blush.

08:43

Gasps.

Blush!

08:46

Quickly closes the palette. Leaves it on the table. Grabs a blush powder and the brush she used before for the setting powder.

Almost forgot.

08:50

Exaggerated smile with her mouth closed. She applies the blush on the apples of her cheeks.Satisfied. Admiring herself in the mirror.

Just like a soft, pink dream.

08:52

Soft but not.

08:54

Creamy but not.

08:57

Such a pretty party-popper!

09:00

A bit anxious. Gazes into the camera.

I am obsessed!

09:05

Pause. She searches for the eyebrow mascara on the table then rises it up to show it to the camera.

Obsessed with this new formula!

09:08

Short pause then opens the lid.

The creamy wax adds natural bulk and keeps your brows in place.

09:12

Uses the spoolie to brush up her eyebrows in the mirror. When done with both brows she poses with hands under the chin.

The brow is jacked and whacked.

09:16

Releases pose and comes back to a neutral position, gazing into the camera. Smiling.

Welcome back.

09:20

Where are you?

09:23

Pauses to think about it, then starts organizing some products on the table.

Atom-punk retro-futuristic setting.

09:27

Lurking fear of demolition.

09:30

Decimation.

09:32

Destruction.

09:34

Elimination.

09:36

Eradication.

09:38

Extermination.

09:40

Extinction.

09:43

Gasps. Left hand on her heart.

I am dying!

09:47

Pauses. She reaches for a color palette on the table. She raises it to the camera.

Dying over this new collection!

09:50

Preaching.

The world is coming to an end.

09:53

Short pause. Takes her hand from her heart and opens the palette.

Just add more color!

09:55

No fallout.

09:58

Gets ready.

Wait and see.

10:04

Gets ready to apply eyeshadow. With her left hand gets a small brush from the table and dips it into blue. Starts applying it on her right eyelid while looking in the mirror.

Today is sponsored by the color blue.

10:07

Derek Jarman Blue.

10:10

International Klein Blue.

10:13

Blue Ivy.

10:16

Obvious. To the camera.

This palette was inspired by the current situation. The look we’re going for today is something between Rothko’s “Green on Blue” and Picasso’s blue period.

10:19

Continues adding more shades.

Start by chiseling your eyelids.

10:24

Add dimension.

10:27

Undisturbed and calm.

Put it in the waterline.

10:30

Pearl. Shimmer. Sparkle.

10:35

She finishes and looks at the final result. Satisfied.

Oh, what a pay off!

10:37

Gorgeous glam situation.

10:43

Changes angles to observe the gradient of colors on her eyes. Moves to the other eye and tries to reproduce the same makeup. Finishes.

This is everything!

10:48

Smiles, pleased, in the mirror. She grabs a black eyeliner from the table, without mush hesitation. Shows it to the camera putting one hand behind it to focus.

Black wing.

10:50

This number 7B eyeliner is my new HB pencil.

10:54

Smiles at the camera.

Say my name and get 15% off!

11:13

She gets ready to apply the eyeliner. Gets close to the mirror and starts from the outer corner of the right eye. She draws the line moving upwards, smoothly then draws another one on her eyelid. Connects them then follows the inner corned of her eye. Stops to control the result.

Inner corner counts extra points.

11:19

Gives you that snatched, pulled-back feline look.

11:21

Satisfied.

Adore.

11:23

Yes.

11:24

Look at me closer.

11:26

Stares at the camera.

Can you see this?

11:29

Short pause.

Take a deep breath.

11:31

Nice and sharp.

11:34

Moves to the other eye and carefully starts reproducing the lines. Anxious and cautious.

Don’t move.

11:37

Don’t breathe.

11:39

It follows.

11:43

Connects the lines and compares the eyes. Corrects a non visible error.

Follow the arch of the eye a little bit more.

11:47

Lift up.

11:49

Gonna come together.

11:52

Controls the mirror once more.

Focus!

11:54

Satisfied.

Ok, I’m living.

11:57

So far so good.

12:01

Changes angles to make sure the eyeliner is applied perfectly.

This is one of these days I can get my eyes even.

12:04

Weary.

Took me years.

12:07

Short pause.

Practice made perfect.

12:10

You have to understand your angles.

12:14

Learn where to place your wing.

12:18

Swooshes hands under the eyes to show off her eyeliner job to the camera.

Snatched.

12:20

Yes.

12:23

Lands hands gently on her cheeks. Smiles.

Gives you life.

12:25

Now a nice curl of the lashes.

12:30

Gets the eyelash curler from the table and starts curling in the mirror a few times, until satisfied. Gets the mascara and gets ready for application. Reads the label.

Mascara in the shade “Vantablack”.

12:33

Waterproof. Smudge proof.

12:36

Very much full coverage.

12:40

XXX mascara.

12:43

Applies carefully on both sides, both up and down. Controls the mirror.

The bomb.

12:45

Ironic and slightly disappointed.

No need for my set of sponsored vegan eyelashes this time.

12:49

The butterfly effect on your face, I tell you.

12:54

Blinks repeatedly staring at the camera to demonstrate. Comes back to a neutral position. Looks down at the table. Weary.

This is not going anywhere.

12:59

Short pause.

Moving on to the last steps.

13:02

Highlighter.

13:05

Gets the highlighter from the table, along with a new clean brush.

Because everybody loves a good glow.

13:08

Shade is “Pearly rose”.

13:10

Moves head to the left to capture the perfect light on her right cheekbone. Applies the highlight upwards, carefully the moves to the other side.

Right on top of the cheekbone.

13:15

The brow bone.

13:19

Applies under the eyebrows.

Here comes the chin.

13:23

Applies on chin.

Then the top of the nose.

13:28

Applies on the nose. Controls mirror. Satisfied.

Amen.

13:36

She leaves the brush and highlighter on the table and picks up a small lipliner. Swings it between her left thumb and index for a moment, then freezes motion to show the product to the camera, other hand comes behind to focus.

Let’s contour the lips and make them pop up.

13:40

Starts application in the mirror, from the middle of her lips.

Hit that on the Cupid’s bow.

13:43

Continues applying silently then remembers something.

If you know me you know chapped lips are my definite pet-peeve.

13:47

Cheeky.

No, thank you.

13:50

Shakes her head.

No, thank you.

13:54

Gets a lipstick from the table and shows it to the camera.

Nude lipstick.

14:05

Applies it quickly and confidently without any errors. Next, she gets a gloss from the table and shows it to the camera.

Glossy gloss.

14:16

Applies it carefully on both lips and pouts her lips together a few times. Satisfied.

Nice and juicy without the Juvederm.

14:20

You’re welcome.

14:22

Short pause. Left hand on her chest. Worried.

This is falling apart.

14:26

Scrutinizes table for a bottle then grabs it with her right hand. Left hand comes to open the lid.

Setting spray.

14:31

Closes her eyes and keeps her breath for a second. Sprays the bottle a few times directly on her face. Squints a little. Releases.

Locks this all in place.

14:39

Opens her eyes and smiles at the camera. Short pause. Seductive gaze, then returns to a neutral position. Exhales satisfied while clasping her hands together. Eyes close.

Oh, it was a journey!

14:43

Opens eyes and looks into the camera. Smiling.

I can’t live my life without this.

14:47

Looks at the table in front of her.

Could you?

14:50

Admiring the makeup on the table.

How could I live my life?

14:53

Looks in the mirror.

I don’t like what I see and I don’t feel good on the inside.

14:57

It’s over.

14:59

Short pause. Returns to camera.

It’s over y’all.

15:00

Rushed.

The video is over.

15:04

Returns to the mirror once more. Admires herself. Satisfied.

This look is fabulous.

15:07

Short pause. Returns to camera.

Don’t forget the bell.

15:10

Raises index.

Helps me stay grounded.

15:13

If you want to see more of this, definitely let me know and I’ll do that for you.

15:16

I’ll do anything for you.

15:20

Short pause. Puts her hands on her cheeks. Surprised.

You’ve been in my life for so long...

15:24

Returns to neutral pose.

Follow me.

15:27

All things beauty.

15:30

Rituals of self.

15:33

Eager. Clasps her hands together.

I cannot wait to see you next time!

15:37

Don’t forget to hit like and subscribe.

Winks at the camera. Her face then turns serious. Seductive look. Hands unclasp and move under the chin. She poses for the camera moving from side to side, slowly looking up and down. She removes her hands from under the chin then poses again. Freezes in pose, looking down, her head tilted right. The highlighter and the gloss shine under the lights, while the camera fades to black.

ACTIONS

CALL

MESSAGES

Alice sits on a small stool in front of the desk. She adjusts herself then gets in the frame. Barefaced. Zooms in the camera to focus. Click. Audio click.
Press record. While putting on her fake vegan lashes in front of the flickering red light, she contemplates applying more highlight this time to flash away the too curious. By flash-forwarding her life in reverse, she takes pleasure in recording live action from another life. Beauty vlogging is the new memento mori. She has Holbein’s anamorphic skull tattooed on the back of her EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 lens. Keeps her grounded. She learned business from the best. She is on the VIP list of major cosmetic brands and she is well aware of the responsibility it brings onto her.

She never followed content creators with less than 8.2 million subscribers.

A person discusses makeup items that they recently purchased, sometimes going into detail about their experiences during the purchase and the cost of the items they bought. Upload. Click. Watch. People comment frantically under the video about whether or not the shimmer in this new collection is “on point”.

Beauty hauls are her pet peeve. She is making an effort to accept them as they are.

Since last year she had not gone to beauty stores and drugstores in person. Not because of invisible paparazzi catching her chapped upper lip, but because she is too indecisive between shades and shades of the same product. Also, the light is never ever right at beauty stores. You get a powdered eyeliner, then you get home and the black is never the black you wanted. Then it destroys the look you envisioned for your next video. Now you have to downgrade your entire palette to less saturated flushes and blushes. Not on her watch. She would rather summon the DIY muses of the internet and amazondotcom to manufacture the eyeliner of her dreams.

Eyeliner is the new calligraphy. Not even the Japanese can master the perfect curvature that can fit her eye-shape as well as she does. Once the tip arrives to the corner of you lens injected eye, you pray to the gods to guide your hand towards the perfect cat eye make-up. You can calculate the wave of the line by making 1 degree adjustments every 2mm. Keep those modulations in mind and move to the other eye. Proceed. Try not to blink. Say cheese. Click.

She doesn’t understand how she got into this.

Her aunt kept her nail polishes on one shelf of the TV commode. Dozens shimmers and acetone mixtures. Pearly miasmas and mildly toxic fumes. She would spend her time there while the adults were chatting in the kitchen. First it was the shimmery shades. The painting job should always be immaculate. The ring finger was the most easiest to paint, then the other fingers would follow. Smudging has always been her people’s arch-enemy.

Somehow she contemplated plastic surgery, but she keeps recalling pictures of Orlan from when she was in art school: the Reincarnation of Sainte-ORLAN and the self-hybridisations. From an exquisite corpse to a botched beauty blogger there is only one dose of Juvederm gone wrong. The effects are temporary and can last up to 18 months, although most people will need at least one follow-up a year after, to maintain their results. That means constant maintenance she cannot commit to. Long term routines always kill her vibe.
